Bye elections conducted in Masunthu in Kambia district has been cancelled due to violence and destruction of ballot boxes.
In a release issued by National Electoral Commission (NEC), there was fighting in polling stations which prevented people from voting in centres.
According to people in Kambia, shots were fired and properties destroyed.
The village according to some is a known stronghold of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party, which is why the town is under political intimidation.
The firing of shots has however not been confirmed by a reliable source that isn’t connected to a political party.
