Maada Bio Proved Critics Wrongs As Sierra Leone Starts Free Education Today

Having declared the free quality education for pre-primary, Primary and Secondary Schools on the 20th of August 2018, the S. L. P. P led government of President Brigadier (Retired) Julius Maada Bio through the Ministry of Basic and senior Secondary Education, Honorable Alpha Timbo have today 17th September 2018 started the implementation of the free Education flagship project.

Before his election into office as President in March this year, the Retired Brigadier promised Sierra Leoneans of providing free and quality education for all school going children if elected as president.

Today, over 1.7 million children are beneficiaries of this free education in the country. A project many opposition parties have referred to as a political gimmick, A promise many thought was never going to be fulfilled.

In a statement today at the country’s statehouse, the President of the Republic Sierra Leone said his ambition to provide education for every Sierra Leonean child is something he will not allow anybody to undermine. “Our vision as government is to make education entirety free from pre-primary to tertiary by 2030.” he stated.

Pupils in both government and government assisted schools are provided with tuition fees, exercise books, pens, pencils, and four core text books for junior and senior secondary schools.

The President has made a genuine call to all Sierra Leoneans in order to become participants in the free education implementation and not spectators.
