The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Alie Kabba has secured Scholarships from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela for Sierra Leoneans to study in different fields of science especially medicine.
Speaking to the Venezuelan Vice Minister for Africa in the Ministry of People’s Power for Foreign Affairs Yuri Pimentel in Nairobi yesterday, Dr Kabba expressed delight at meeting with the vice minister whose country he said has always assisted Suerra Leone during the time of need.
The Foreign Minister said he recently met a group of Sierra Leonean doctors who were trained in Venezuela adding that education sits well with the policy of the new direction administration of President Bio.
While thanking the government for support, Dr Kabba noted that the graduate returnees have impacted on the quality of lives of Sierra Leoneans.
He praised the government of Venezuela for been consistent with it support to Sierra Leone and said the doors OF Sierra Leone are always open to them within the spirit of south south cooperation.
Responding, thanked Foreign Minister for the engagement and vowed on behalf of his government to continue their programmes with Sierra Leone.
He promised to work more closer with Dr Kabba so that together they can establish specific areas of cooperation to support the new administration in Freetown.
Mr Pimentel said he does not just interested in signing agreements but believes in doing something that can work.
“I hope we can find specific areas of cooperation so that together we can make it happened ”
He said once that is done the Venezuelan government can do what it can to help including the provisions of Scholarships to Sierra Leonans to study in various fields of education.
