Approximately 200 students including members of the of SISLAA and the 111 scholarship winners were in attendance.
In his speech, Dr. Alie Kabba thanked Chinese government for providing continued support in diverse ways to the development of Sierra Leone. He admonished the scholarship winners to serve as ambassadors to acquire knowledge for the benefit of the people of Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Rogers, who had studied in China’s Beijing University through the Scholarship program several years ago, envisaged that the students would devote themselves to China-Sierra Leone friendship after they come back.
China’s gestures in human capacity building are in line with the President Bio’s New Direction agenda, which deems education a strong pillar for the nation’s development, Ambassador Wu said. He wished that the students could be envoys who will contribute to China-Sierra Leone relations by promoting people-to-people and cultural exchanges.
